Why was my card charged automatically?
Last updated 1 min read
Pledgix invoices come in two flavors, and the invoice itself decides which one applies:
- Automatic collection — the invoice charges the card or bank account saved on your billing account. Most subscription and recurring service charges work this way. This is what just happened.
- Pay by link — the invoice is emailed to you with a secure payment page and is never charged automatically.
Automatic collection isn't a mistake — it's how your subscription stays active without you having to chase due dates.
How to see what you were charged for
- Open the Billing tab in your client portal.
- Find the invoice in Invoice history (the matching campaign is shown as a badge under the invoice number).
- Click View to open the full invoice with every line item, or PDF to download it.
If the charge looks wrong
- Open the invoice and check the line items and billing period first — most surprises are a renewal landing earlier in the month than expected.
- Still doesn't add up? Open Help & Support, click Create a support ticket, choose the Billing category, and quote the invoice number. See Who do I contact about billing?
Tip: Prepaid credit on your account is applied before your card is touched — so a smaller-than-expected charge usually means credit covered part of the invoice. See Prepaid credits and discounts on your account.
