Payment methods — card and bank (ACH)

Your payment method on file

Your Pledgix billing account keeps one payment method on file — a credit/debit card or a US bank account (ACH). It's used to collect automatically billed invoices and to power the one-click Retry button on open invoices.

You can see what's currently saved in the Card on file card at the top of the Billing tab: the card brand and last four digits with its expiry date, or your bank account for ACH.

Adding or updating a card

  1. Open the Billing tab in your client portal.
  2. In the Card on file card, click Add card (or Update if one is already saved).
  3. In the Update card on file dialog, make sure the Card option is selected.
  4. Enter the name on card, card number, expiry (MM/YY), CVV, and ZIP code.
  5. Click Save card.

Your card details go directly from your browser to the payment gateway — Pledgix never sees the card number. Only the brand and last four digits are stored for display.

Tip: If you had failed payments, saving a working card automatically retries all open invoices billed to your saved payment method right away. (Pay-by-link invoices are never charged to your card — pay those from their View & Pay page.) It's the single fastest way to restore your account to good standing.

Adding a bank account (ACH)

ACH lets US organizations pay directly from a bank account:

  1. In the same Update card on file dialog, switch to Bank (ACH).
  2. Enter the account holder name, your 9-digit routing number, and your account number (4–17 digits).
  3. Click Save bank account.

A few things to know about ACH:

  • US dollars only. ACH can only pay invoices issued in USD. If any of your invoices are in another currency, keep a card on file for those.
  • Settlement takes 1–4 business days. Your invoice is marked paid when the payment is accepted, and the funds clear from your bank over the following days.
  • Your bank details go straight to the secure payment vault — Pledgix stores only a masked reference.

Switching between card and bank

Saving a new payment method replaces the previous one. You can switch between card and ACH at any time by opening the dialog and choosing the other option — the newly saved method becomes the one on file.

Security

  • Card numbers are captured in secure fields provided by the payment gateway and tokenized in your browser; the full number never touches Pledgix systems.
  • Bank account details are vaulted with the payment processor, not stored by Pledgix.
  • For your protection, payment-method updates are rate-limited; if you hit a limit, wait a few minutes and try again.
Tip: Keep your card's expiry date current. An expired card is the most common cause of failed automatic payments — a 30-second update prevents any interruption.
