Platform fees explained

Two different kinds of charges
Pledgix has two completely separate kinds of charges, and understanding the difference clears up most billing questions:
- The platform fee on donations — a percentage deducted automatically from each donation as it's processed.
- Platform service invoices — bills for subscriptions and services, which appear on your Billing tab.
The platform fee never appears on an invoice, and your invoices never include donation fees.
The platform fee on donations
What the platform fee is depends on your campaign model:
- Pledgix Go — the platform fee is 0%. Instead, donors are invited to add an optional tip to Pledgix on top of their gift. The tip is charged in addition to the donation and never counts toward your campaign totals or payouts.
- Pledgix One — the current Pledgix One rate applies to each donation. The rate is shown in your dashboard and on the pricing page.
- Pledgix Pro and Political — your agreed rate is collected on each donation as it's processed.
- Campaigns created under earlier fee schedules keep their original rate, and campaigns that process on their own gateway keys pay no platform fee at all — Pledgix never touches those funds.
Here's how it works in practice:
- Your donor pays exactly what they chose. The fee is never added on top of the donor's amount (a Go tip is the donor's own choice, on top).
- The fee is deducted from campaign proceeds at the moment the donation is processed, together with the payment processor's own fees — what remains is that donation's net, and your payouts are built from those nets.
- The exact fee is recorded on each donation — every donation's record carries its platform fee and processing fee, so the math behind your payouts is always auditable.
So if a donor gives $100, the donor is charged $100, and the campaign's proceeds are $100 minus your campaign's platform fee and the card-processing fees.
Tip: Because the fee comes out per donation automatically, there's nothing for you to pay or reconcile at month-end — the amount that reaches you is already net of fees.
Where can I see my campaign's fee rate?
Your campaign's platform fee rate is part of your campaign's configuration and your agreement with Pledgix — it's shown in your dashboard, and the current Pledgix One rate is also on the pricing page. If a custom rate was agreed for your campaign, that rate applies instead. If you're unsure what rate applies to your campaign, reach out via Help & Support in your account menu and we'll confirm it.
Platform service invoices
Everything else you might owe Pledgix — subscription plans, usage-based services, or work arranged with our team — is billed through regular invoices. Those show up:
- On the Billing tab of your client portal, under Invoice history
- In your email inbox, with a button linking to the invoice
Service invoices are covered in detail in Understanding your Pledgix invoice and How to pay a Pledgix invoice.
Frequently asked
Does the platform fee apply to every payment type? The fee applies to donations processed through your campaign's payment processing. Processor fees vary by payment method and are set by the payment processor, not Pledgix.
Will my donors see the fee? No. Donors see and pay the amount they chose. Fees are settled on the campaign side. (On Pledgix Go, donors do see the optional tip prompt — that's their choice and goes to Pledgix, not out of your campaign.)
Can the fee change? The rate configured for your campaign is what applies. Any change to your rate would be part of an updated agreement with Pledgix — it won't change silently. One exception you opt into yourself: upgrading a Go campaign to Pledgix One applies the One rate to the campaign's entire donation history, including donations raised while on Go — the upgrade flow says so before you confirm.
