Topping up prepaid credit

Usage-based features — most notably marketing messages sent from the Marketing Hub — can be funded with prepaid credit instead of waiting for a usage invoice. You top up whenever you like, and Pledgix draws the balance down automatically as you use it.

Where to top up

The Add credit flow lives in the Marketing Hub — you'll also be offered it right when it matters, for example when confirming a message blast that your current balance won't cover. Your current credit balance is shown in the Marketing Hub and on your Billing page.

How a top-up works

  1. Choose an amount — quick presets or a custom amount from $5 up to $10,000.
  2. Confirm. Pledgix charges the card on file for your billing account immediately.
  3. On approval, the credit is granted atomically with the charge — the moment you see the success message, the new balance is already spendable. A matching invoice is created and marked paid, so your billing history stays complete.

No card on file yet? The top-up flow walks you through adding one first — the same secure card capture the Billing page uses, where the card number goes straight to the payment gateway and never touches Pledgix — then returns you to finish the top-up.

If the charge declines

A declined top-up is voided on the spot. Nothing stays open on your account, and — importantly — the charge is never silently retried against your card days later. If you still want the credit, fix the card (or use a different one) and simply try again.

In the rare case where the charge outcome is momentarily unknown (a network hiccup mid-charge), the top-up shows as pending and resolves automatically — if the charge turns out to have succeeded, the credit is granted; if not, the invoice is voided. You'll never be charged without receiving the credit.

Where the credit is used

Prepaid credit is applied automatically, before your card is billed for usage charges. When usage (such as marketing sends) is invoiced, the balance is drawn down first; only usage beyond your remaining credit falls through to your normal billing. There's nothing to allocate or apply manually.

Credit is a payment balance, not a discount — it appears on your billing records like the money it is, and Credits and discounts covers how it interacts with invoices in detail.

Tip: Planning a big campaign-launch blast? Top up once for the expected volume rather than letting sends ride on per-invoice billing — the blast confirmation screen shows the estimated cost, so you can load exactly what you need before you hit send.
