Recurring plans managed by the payment gateway

Most recurring donations on Pledgix are run by the Pledgix scheduler: our system charges each installment, handles retries, and owns the calendar. Some campaigns are instead configured so the payment gateway (Sola) runs the schedules itself — the gateway charges the donor autonomously, and Pledgix mirrors everything back.
You can tell which kind a plan is by the badge on the plan's detail drawer: gateway-run plans carry a Sola managed-by badge.
What stays exactly the same
Whichever side runs the clock, your books look identical:
- Every plan appears in your Recurring views with its status, amount, and progress.
- Every successful charge lands as a normal donation — counted in totals, receipted, and visible in your Donations CRM.
- Declined charges are recorded too, and the plan shows past due so you can see it needs attention.
Pledgix syncs with the gateway continuously, so charges, declines, amount changes, and stopped schedules made at the gateway all flow into your dashboard automatically.
What works differently on a gateway-run plan
Retries are the gateway's job. When a charge declines, Sola's own retry schedule takes over. Pledgix never charges a gateway-run plan itself — that guarantee is what makes double-charging impossible. If the gateway exhausts its retries and disables the schedule, Pledgix mirrors that as a cancellation.
Updating the donor's card works from Pledgix. Use Update card… on the plan as usual — the new card is saved on your records and pushed to the gateway so future installments charge it.
Changing the billing day happens at the gateway. The Change billing day action isn't offered on gateway-run plans, because the calendar lives in the Sola schedule. Make the change in the Sola portal; it takes effect there directly.
Cancelling happens at the gateway. To stop a gateway-run plan, disable its schedule in the Sola portal — Pledgix mirrors the cancellation into your dashboard automatically on the next sync pass, including any final charge that ran in the meantime.
Amount changes made in the Sola portal are honored. If your organization edits a schedule's amount at the gateway, Pledgix picks up the new amount and books future charges accordingly.
Don't have Sola portal access?
Gateway-managed mode is normally chosen by organizations that actively work in the Sola portal. If you need a schedule changed or stopped and don't have portal access, contact the Pledgix team and we'll take care of it.
Tip: Not sure which mode your campaign uses? Open any recurring plan and check the managed-by badge — or ask the Pledgix team. New campaigns use the Pledgix scheduler unless gateway management was specifically configured.
