Charity Card and DAF donations

Many donors give through a Jewish charity fund — a donor-advised fund (DAF) that issues them a charity card. Pledgix accepts these cards directly at checkout, so a charity-fund donor can give in the same flow as a credit-card donor.
Supported funds
- OJC
- The Donors' Fund
- Pledger
- Matbia
- iMaaser — supported through Pledgix's direct integration with iMaaser
Each fund issues cards with its own number range, so Pledgix recognizes the fund automatically from the card number. A card number that doesn't match any supported fund is declined with a friendly message — there is no fallback to a regular card charge.
Which campaigns can accept charity cards
Charity-card giving is available on every campaign model — Go, One, and Pro — with two exceptions:
- Political campaigns never offer it. Political donations require compliance declarations that the charity-card flow doesn't collect, and they aren't tax-deductible.
- Campaigns marked not tax-deductible are excluded. A DAF grant may only fund a verified charitable recipient, so private fundraisers can't accept them.
Charity cards also require the standard Pledgix payment rail — a campaign running on its own Stripe account doesn't have this checkout path.
What the donor does
- The donor opens your donation page and picks an amount as usual.
- At the payment step they switch to the Charity Card method.
- They enter their card number and expiry. Most funds need nothing else — no ZIP code, and The Donors' Fund is the one fund that asks for the card's CVV as its authorization code. A helper note on the form tells the donor exactly what their fund requires.
- On submit, Pledgix requests the grant from the fund. The donor sees a confirmation just like any other donation.
The fund then reviews and pays out the grant on its own schedule — the donor's part is done at checkout.
How these gifts appear in your dashboard
Charity-card gifts land in your Donations CRM like any other donation, labeled with the Charity Card method and the name of the issuing fund. They count toward your campaign total as soon as they're approved.
One thing to know for your bookkeeping: the fund sends the actual money later, by check or transfer on its own timetable. Until that deposit lands, the gift shows as in transit on your payouts screen and isn't part of your payable balance. See DAF grants and your payout for the full picture.
Tip: If a donor types a charity-card number into the regular credit-card form, the gateway may still approve it. Your team can reclassify such a donation as a Charity Card from the donation's edit screen so it lands in the right payout bucket.
