Kvitels — collecting names on calls

What this is

A kvitel (Yiddish; plural kvitelach) is a written note of names — traditionally name ben/bas mother's name — handed to a rov or rebbe together with a request for a blessing: a refuah, a shidduch, parnassah. Many campaigns offer donors a kvitel as part of the ask, and the Call Center makes collecting and delivering them part of the calling workflow.

Turning it on

Go to Call Center → Settings → Kvitel and switch the feature on. You can also set the Rabbi's name and the Rabbi's email — kvitel batches are emailed there. Once enabled, callers can record a kvitel on any call, and managers get a Kvitels tab in the Call Center.

Collecting names during a call

While on a call, the caller opens the Write a kvitel tile in the action dock (keyboard shortcut K). The form takes:

  • A Hebrew name, a ben / בת toggle, and the mother's name — with Add another name for more rows (up to 20 names per kvitel).
  • An optional request per name ("refuah, shidduch…").
  • A request for the whole kvitel.

Save the kvitel and it's recorded against the call — the caller sees "Kvitel recorded — it will reach the rov." A caller can record more than one kvitel on a call, and can edit their own kvitel until it has been delivered.

The Kvitels board

Managers see every kvitel the phone team collected, filtered by New, Sent, or All (New is the default). Each row shows the names, the donor, when it was collected, whether it was delivered by email or print, and a green with donation chip when it's linked to a donation from that call.

Corrections: managers can edit or delete any kvitel at any time — the pencil icon opens the full form; getting a name exactly right matters, so fix it and re-print or re-send. Deleting is permanent, though if a kvitel was already delivered, the rov keeps the copy they received.

Delivering to the rov

Select kvitels with the checkboxes (or select none to act on everything in New), then:

  • Print sheet — opens a clean, right-to-left printout headed קוויטלעך, each name in bold with its request beneath, ready for the browser's print dialog. Printing marks those kvitels as sent.
  • Email to the rov — sends the batch to the configured rabbi's email as a formatted Hebrew table, with your campaign as the sender name. On success, everything in the batch flips to Sent.

If no email address is set, the email button is disabled — the print sheet always works. There's also a plain Mark as sent button for kvitels you delivered some other way.

Tip: Make emptying the New filter part of closing every calling night. Donors gave those names trusting they'd reach the rov — a standing "print or send, then zero" habit means nothing sits forgotten.
