Donations by phone — your campaign's automated phone line

Some of your best donors would rather dial than click. Pledgix campaigns can take donations through an automated phone line: callers hear your campaign's progress and can donate by card, entering everything on their keypad — no internet required.

Two ways donors reach your campaign

  • The shared Pledgix number with your campaign PIN. Callers first pick a language (English, Yiddish, or Hebrew — press 1, 2, or 3), then hear a short menu ("To access a campaign, press 1…") and enter your campaign's phone PIN — a 6-digit code assigned to your campaign. The PIN is fixed for the life of your campaign, so it's safe to print on mailers and posters.
  • A dedicated phone number for your campaign. Callers land directly in your campaign's menu — no PIN needed. Ask your Pledgix administrator about setting one up.
Note: On free Pledgix Go campaigns, the shared line and PIN aren't available — Go campaigns activate phone donations by purchasing a dedicated number. Paid plans can use either option.

You'll find your campaign's PIN and phone settings in the campaign's telephony settings, where you can also:

  • Upload a welcome audio recording that plays when a caller reaches your campaign — your voice, your message.
  • Set an office phone number so callers can press a key to speak with a real person on your team.

What the caller hears

Once connected to your campaign (after your welcome audio, if you've uploaded one):

  1. "Press 1 to hear campaign stats." — a spoken update of how much you've raised toward your goal. Callers can also enter a team code to hear a specific team's progress.
  2. "Press 2 to donate." — the donation flow (below).
  3. "Press 3 to speak with the campaign office." — appears only if you've set an office phone; forwards the call to your team.

The phone donation flow

  1. The caller chooses where the gift goes: the general campaign (press 1), a specific team (press 2), a split shared equally among all teams (press 3), or a split across teams they pick by team code (press 4).
  2. They enter the amount in whole dollars on the keypad, followed by the pound key. The minimum phone donation is 5 (in your campaign's currency).
  3. The line confirms — "You are donating 100 dollars. Please enter your card details." — and the caller keys in their card number, expiration, and security code through a secure, certified phone-payment system. Card digits are captured by the payment system directly and are never exposed to Pledgix or recorded.
  4. On approval, the caller hears a thank-you followed by a short menu: press 1 to hear the latest campaign update, press 2 to get a receipt by text message, or press 0 (or just hang up) to finish.

How phone gifts appear in your dashboard

Phone donations land in your Donations tab like any other gift:

  • Payment method Card (Phone/IVR), so they're easy to filter and export separately.
  • The gift shows as "Phone Donation" on the public feed — the phone line doesn't collect a name or email.
  • Amounts are in your campaign's goal currency and count toward your total and the credited team(s) immediately on approval.

Because no email is collected, phone donations don't receive an emailed receipt — but the caller can get a receipt by text message by pressing 2 right after donating. If a phone donor later wants an emailed receipt, add their email to the donation and use Resend Receipt.

Campaign info by text message

The same campaign PIN also works over SMS. Supporters who text the Pledgix number can enter your PIN to receive your campaign's name, amount raised, goal, and a direct donation link to your campaign page — plus team stats if they text a team code. It's a handy way to hand out your donation link at live events: "Text the number, enter 123456."

Tip: Put the phone number and your 6-digit PIN on printed materials and event slides. For older audiences especially, "call this number, enter this code" often converts better than a URL.
