Understanding AI credits

Pledgix's AI tools — the AI Banner Generator and Story Studio's AI Auto-Write — run on a simple credit system. This article explains how credits work so you can plan how to spend them.

The AI tools are included from Pledgix One and up — Pledgix Go doesn't include them (upgrading to One unlocks both, and the Pledgix team can adjust access per campaign).

Your credit balance

Every campaign starts with 10 AI credits. Credits belong to the campaign, not to your personal account — if you manage several campaigns, each one has its own balance of 10.

You can see your balance any time in the AI tools themselves: a badge reading AI Credits Left appears in the AI Banner Generator and in Story Studio's AI Auto-Write bar, and it updates as you go.

What each action costs

| Action | Cost | |---|---| | Enhance Prompt (Free) — improve your banner description | Free | | Generate Banner — create one AI banner image | 1 credit | | Generate Banner with a style reference — banner guided by a reference image | 2 credits | | Generate Directly (1 Credit) — banner without the enhance step | 1 credit | | Generate a tier image — one AI image for a donation tier | 1 credit | | Auto-Write About Section — one full story draft | 1 credit | | Regenerate — a fresh About-section draft | 1 credit |

Regenerating always costs the same as the original generation — a fresh result is a new paid result, whether it's your first attempt or your fifth.

A few things that never cost anything: enhancing and editing your banner prompt, previewing an AI draft, dismissing a draft, and editing text the AI already wrote. You're only charged when the AI actually produces a new image or a new draft.

Failed generations are refunded

If a generation fails — a timeout, a hiccup on our side, anything that doesn't deliver a result — the credit is returned to your balance automatically. You'll see a confirmation that your credit was refunded, and you can simply try again.

If a banner description can't be processed for safety reasons, you'll see a message asking you to try a different description. Blocked requests don't consume a credit.

Making 10 credits go far

Ten credits is enough to fully design a typical campaign — for example, three or four banner attempts to land the perfect hero image, plus a story draft in each of your campaign's languages. To get the most from your balance:

Tip: Always run Enhance Prompt (Free) before generating a banner. It's free, and the improved prompt dramatically raises the odds that your first paid generation is the keeper.
Tip: For About-section drafts, invest in your bullet-point notes before clicking generate. Specific, detailed notes usually mean one draft is enough — vague notes lead to paid regenerations.

Running out of credits

When your balance reaches zero, the generate buttons are disabled and you'll see a note to contact support to unlock more AI credits. There's no self-serve purchase at the moment — just reach out to the Pledgix team through your usual support channel, tell us which campaign needs a top-up, and we'll add credits for you.

Good to know

  • Credits don't expire — an unused balance stays with the campaign.
  • All the AI tools draw from the same campaign balance, so a banner-heavy design session leaves fewer credits for story drafts, and vice versa.
  • Your credit balance is visible to everyone who can edit the campaign's Design & Media hub, so coordinate with your team before a big generation session.
