Troubleshooting failed sends

Start with the exact message
Almost every send failure in the Marketing & Outreach hub comes with a specific message. Find yours below.
"Marketing is disabled for this campaign"
The campaign-wide marketing switch is off. These switches are managed by the Pledgix team — contact us to have marketing enabled for the campaign. Individual channel switches work the same way: if only one channel refuses to send ("Email marketing is not enabled…" or "SMS marketing is not enabled…"), that channel's switch is the culprit, and we can flip it for you.
A related message is a tier restriction: Marketing & Outreach is included on Pledgix Pro and Political plans, and the Pledgix team can enable it for other campaigns on request. If your campaign's plan doesn't include it, sends are refused with a tier-restricted error rather than a switch error.
Email problems
- "Subject is required" / missing checklist items — the Pre-flight Checklist on the review stage must show green for audience, content, and subject before Send unlocks.
- "These variables have no value…" — your subject or body contains a variable that doesn't exist for this audience (usually a typo like
{{team_nane}}). The send is refused so recipients never see raw{{...}}text; fix the spelling or remove the variable. - "Tracking link not found" — the Link Center link you attached was deleted or deactivated after you picked it. Choose a different (active) link or send without one.
- Many recipients "suppressed" — those addresses are on the do-not-send list (unsubscribed, bounced, or complained). This is working as intended; see Recipient lists and the suppression list.
- Team shows "No valid email address" — that team has no usable leader email on file. Update the team's contact details and resend to just that team.
- "No Email column found" on upload — rename your spreadsheet's address column header to "Email" and re-upload.
- Progress tracker loses connection — refresh and check History; the sending queue runs on our servers and doesn't depend on your browser.
SMS problems
- "Carrier Compliance Alert" / "Message blocked by carrier compliance" — your text contains a non-Pledgix link or a restricted word; the alert names it. Rephrase and resend. See SMS content rules.
- "Not approved for open recipients" — you included manual or uploaded numbers without the Open SMS Recipients approval. Send to teams only, or request approval — see Texting beyond your team roster.
- "No SMS provider configured" — the campaign's text-messaging service isn't set up on the platform side. Contact the Pledgix team.
- "No valid phone numbers found" — nothing in your list survived validation. Check for missing country codes and set the correct default region.
- Scheduled send failed to enqueue — a scheduling-service issue on our side; the blast is marked failed rather than silently lost. Contact the Pledgix team.
- Recipient shows "DNC blocked" — the number is on your Do Not Call list, or its owner texted STOP (which suppresses them platform-wide). That's a protection, not an error.
Voice broadcast problems
- "Outside TCPA calling window (9am–8pm)" — you tried to launch outside legal calling hours. Use Schedule to pick a compliant time.
- "No dialable recipients after DNC scrub and validation" — every number was blocked, invalid, or duplicate. Review your list and your DNC List.
- Launch blocked because a broadcast is already active — one broadcast per campaign runs at a time; wait for it to finish or cancel it from the progress panel.
- High "Failed" count in results — usually bad numbers in the source list. Open the call logs to see per-call error reasons.
File upload problems (all channels)
- File too large — the limit is 50 MB for SMS/robocall lists.
- Too many rows — split files over 20,000 rows into batches.
- "Failed to read the file" — re-save as a fresh .xlsx or .csv; exotic formats and corrupted files can't be parsed.
Tip: When contacting the Pledgix team about a failed send, include the campaign name, the channel, the approximate send time, and the exact error text — that's everything we need to find it in the logs quickly.
