The text-in assistant — supporters can text your campaign number

What it is
If your campaign uses the Pledgix telephone system (the same setup that powers donations by phone), it comes with an automated text-in assistant. Supporters can send a text message to your campaign's phone number and get instant, always-current answers — no app, no login, and no work for you.
What supporters can get by texting
- Live campaign stats — the assistant replies with your campaign's name, the amount raised so far, and your goal, formatted in your campaign's currency.
- A donate link — a direct link to your public campaign page, so a curious texter can give on the spot.
- A teams link — a link to your campaign's teams overview.
- Team stats — supporters who know a team's short code (the same 4–6 digit code teams use elsewhere) can ask for that team's raised amount and goal — a favorite of team captains tracking a friendly rivalry in real time.
The assistant identifies your campaign by its Campaign PIN — the 6-digit code assigned when the telephone system is enabled, and the same code donors use for phone donations. Campaigns with a dedicated phone number give texters the smoothest experience.
Setting it up
The assistant rides on your campaign's telephone system:
- In your campaign dashboard, open the Telephone System section.
- Enable telephony for your campaign. This generates your unique Campaign PIN and connects your campaign to a phone number (shared with PIN entry, or a dedicated number if you've upgraded).
- That's it — the text-in assistant answers on the same number, using your campaign's live figures.
Availability follows your campaign model: Pledgix Go campaigns can use the phone system only with a purchased dedicated number (there's no free shared-line option on Go), and Pledgix Political campaigns don't have telephony at all. If you don't see the telephone options for your campaign, contact the Pledgix team and we'll check it for you.
How to use it in your outreach
The assistant shines when you advertise it:
- On event screens and flyers: "Text our number for the live total!"
- During rally days: captains can text for their team's numbers between calls instead of opening a laptop.
- In voice broadcasts and emails: mention that supporters can text the number any time for the latest figures.
Tip: Because the assistant always answers with live numbers, it never goes stale — print the phone number on physical materials with confidence, even for a campaign that runs for months.
Good to know
- Replies come from the campaign's number, so a supporter's message thread naturally becomes a bookmark for your campaign.
- The stats are the same live totals shown on your public page — there's never a mismatch between what a texter sees and what your page shows.
- The assistant answers questions; it doesn't send unprompted messages. Outbound texting is a separate feature with its own rules — see Sending SMS to your teams.
