Switching between Manager and Team views

Some people wear two hats on a campaign: they run it as a Manager or Admin, and they also fundraise on it as a Captain or Team Member. If that's you, your campaign dashboard includes a Viewing as toggle that lets you switch between the two perspectives — without signing out or switching accounts.

Where to find it

Open the campaign from My Campaigns. In the campaign header — near the View Live button — you'll see a small switch labeled Viewing as, with up to three positions depending on the roles you hold:

  • Manager (blue when active)
  • Captain (amber when active)
  • Team (green when active)

On narrow screens the switch moves onto its own row, labels and all, and works the same.

Who sees the toggle

Only people who hold roles in both families on the same campaign — for example, Manager and Captain, or Admin and Team Member. If you're purely a manager, or purely a fundraiser, there's nothing to switch between, so the toggle doesn't appear. You only get the positions matching roles you actually hold. (See Roles and permissions explained for how the two families work.)

What changes in Team view

Switching to Captain or Team shows you the campaign exactly as those teammates experience it:

  • Fewer tabs — leadership areas like Teams Management, Design & Media, Marketing & Outreach, Financial Hub, and Campaign Settings disappear from the sidebar, just as they're hidden from Captains and Team Members. Analytics stays, but scoped to the team. Donor Relations appears only when the team has profiles assigned to it.
  • Narrower numbers — the Overview and donation lists scope down to your own team's activity rather than the whole campaign.
  • No hidden powers — the team-family views are a genuine downgrade of what you can see and do while they're on. They never add access; they only narrow it.

Switch back to Manager and the full dashboard returns instantly.

Tip: Team view is the best answer to "what do my fundraisers actually see?" Before sending instructions to your captains — "go to this tab, click this button" — flip to Team view and walk the path yourself. You'll catch every step that only exists in your Manager view.

How the mode behaves

  • It follows you around the campaign. Once you switch to Team view, every tab you open inside that campaign stays in Team view until you switch back — the mode is carried in the page's web address, so it even survives a refresh.
  • You can share it as a link. Because the mode lives in the address, copying the address while in Team view gives a link that opens in Team view — handy when walking a fellow dual-role leader through the fundraiser experience.
  • It resets when you leave. Leaving the campaign dashboard (back to Home or another campaign) clears the mode; you'll re-enter in the standard Manager view next time.
  • It can't unlock anything. If someone without a team role opens a Team-view link, the toggle and the mode are simply ignored — views are always limited to the roles you genuinely hold.

When Team view is useful

  • Training — record a walkthrough for team members that matches their screen exactly.
  • Troubleshooting — when a captain says "I don't see that tab," flip to Team view to confirm what they see instead of guessing.
  • Focus — during an event, if you're personally fundraising, Team view keeps your dashboard focused on your own team's leaderboard and gifts.

Frequently asked

Does switching views notify anyone or change any data? No — it's purely a lens on what you see. Nothing is edited, logged to your team, or visible to others.

I have two hats but don't see the toggle. Double-check the campaign in question — roles are per-campaign, so you may be dual-role on one campaign but single-role on another. If a role is missing, ask the campaign's admin to add it.
