Setting up your campaign's phone line

Some of your most generous supporters would rather call than click. The Telephony Center gives your campaign a phone line where donors can hear your campaign's progress and make a donation by phone, card in hand — no internet required.

Where to find it

Open your campaign and go to the Phone tab. This is your Telephony Center, home to everything voice-related: an Overview & Analytics tab, Call History, Phone Donations, and System Settings.

Before you activate

Phone donations are processed through your campaign's payment setup, so a payment gateway must be assigned to your campaign first. If it isn't, you'll see "Payment setup required" and a note to assign a payment gateway in Campaign Settings before enabling phone donations.

Note: Phone donations are not available for political campaigns.

Activating the system

Switch the system toggle to System Active. The Activate Telephony System setup opens, where you choose how donors will reach you:

Shared line — free (Pledgix One and up)

Donors call the shared Pledgix number and enter your 6-digit Campaign PIN to connect to your campaign. It costs nothing and works immediately — perfect for getting started. The shared number and your PIN are shown in your settings so you can publish them together on your materials. (See Your Campaign PIN and where it's used.)

On Pledgix Go campaigns the shared line isn't included — the card shows as locked, and phone donations require purchasing a dedicated number (below) or upgrading to Pledgix One.

Dedicated Phone Number — $30 for 30 days

Your campaign gets its own direct, branded phone number — donors dial it and land straight in your campaign's menu, no PIN required. Available on every plan, including Go. To set one up:

  1. Choose Dedicated number in the setup (or use the upgrade banner if you started on the shared line).
  2. Pick your Country — United States, Israel, United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Canada, or Switzerland. For US numbers, enter your preferred 3-digit Area Code (for example, 212).
  3. Click Purchase Number and complete the $30 payment (billed to the campaign owner's card on file).

Your number is provisioned within moments and appears under Dedicated Number in your settings. After 30 days the number is released unless auto-renew is on ($30/month, cancel anytime) — you can also extend it 30 days at a time for $30.

Tip: A dedicated number is worth it for phone-heavy audiences. "Call 212-555-0100" fits on a flyer, a radio spot, or a robocall far more naturally than "call this number, then enter code 483920" — and every removed step means more completed donations.

What callers experience

When a donor reaches your campaign, they hear your custom greeting (see Recording your phone line's welcome message), then a simple menu: press one option to hear campaign stats, another to donate. Donating by phone walks the caller through entering an amount and their card details securely on the keypad, ending with a spoken thank-you confirmation. Phone donations appear in your campaign like any other gift, listed in the Phone Donations tab.

Routing callers to a real person

In System Settings, the Call Forwarding section lets you enter your office phone number. Callers who choose to speak with someone are forwarded straight to that number — useful for large gifts, questions, or donors who prefer a human.

Turning the system off

Switch the toggle to System Off. You'll be asked to confirm, with a reminder that donors calling your number or PIN will hear an inactive message. You can reactivate at any time.

Who can manage the phone line

The Phone tab is available to campaign Managers and Campaign Admins. Captains and team members don't see it. If the tab is missing entirely, phone features may be disabled for your campaign — contact Pledgix support.
