Real-time donation notifications

Momentum is contagious. When a visitor sees a donation arrive while they're on your page, giving stops being abstract — it's happening, right now, and they can be part of it. This article explains Pledgix's real-time donation notifications and the best ways to watch your campaign live.

Donation pop-ups on your campaign page

While your campaign is live, your public campaign page shows an elegant pop-up notification each time a new donation comes in. Everyone viewing the page sees it — donors, prospects, and you.

Each notification is a small card, tinted in your campaign's colors, showing:

  • The donation amount — for example, "$180"
  • The donor's name as it was recorded — "from Sarah Levi" (donors who chose to give anonymously appear as "Anonymous")

Notifications appear in the corner of the page for a few seconds, then slide away on their own; viewers can also dismiss one early. They're designed to energize, not annoy.

Built for big moments

Live-day surges are exactly when notifications matter most — and exactly when they could get overwhelming. Pledgix handles this automatically:

  • During a burst of giving, individual pop-ups are combined into a single summary — for example, "$2,340 from 12 new donations," with the latest donor's name — so a matching-hour frenzy reads as one thrilling wave instead of a wall of pop-ups.
  • Notifications arrive over a live connection the moment donations are processed. If a viewer's connection hiccups, the page quietly checks for new donations every 20 seconds instead, so nobody misses the action.
  • Only new donations trigger pop-ups. Visitors arriving mid-campaign aren't flooded with history — the existing gifts are in your donations feed, and pop-ups begin from the moment they land on the page.

On political campaigns, notifications automatically show donor names without amounts, in keeping with how political giving is displayed.

Watching your campaign in real time

As a campaign manager, you have three live views, each suited to a different moment:

  • Your public campaign page — open it in a tab during launch hour and you'll see every pop-up your donors see, plus the live total and donations feed. This is the quickest "mission control."
  • The Live Screen — the full-screen jumbotron view for projectors at events, with an animated total, live activity feed, and top teams. It's included on Pledgix Pro and Political plans, and the Pledgix team can enable it for other campaigns for an event night. (See Using the Live Screen at events.)
  • Your campaign dashboard — your private workspace keeps its totals and analytics fresh automatically as donations arrive. It refreshes itself on a regular cycle rather than pop-up by pop-up, so it's the place for numbers, not fireworks.
Tip: During your critical hours, project the public page or Live Screen where your whole team can see it. Every pop-up is a micro-celebration — teams that watch the gifts land make more calls, send more messages, and push harder in the final stretch.
Tip: Pair notifications with a matching round. When every "$100 from David" pop-up implicitly means "$200 toward the goal," viewers feel the multiplier working in real time. (See Donation matching rounds.)

Good to know

  • Donation pop-ups run while your campaign is live (including extended time); they rest when the campaign is upcoming or ended.
  • They're part of your page's recent-donations experience — if the recent donations feature is turned off for your page, pop-ups are off as well. Contact Pledgix support if you'd like this adjusted.
  • Notification text follows each visitor's language on multilingual campaigns, and animations respect visitors' reduced-motion settings automatically.
  • Separate from these page pop-ups, teams can receive donation alerts (email, SMS, and WhatsApp) when their team gets a gift — that's a Pledgix One-and-up feature and isn't included on Pledgix Go.
