Letting the public sign up as teams

Your most passionate supporters often want to do more than donate — they want to fundraise for you. Public team signup puts a "Be a Team" button on your campaign page so anyone can create their own team, and you decide whether teams go live instantly or wait for your approval.

Public team signup is available from Pledgix One and up. It's not included on Pledgix Go (the section doesn't appear in settings), though the Pledgix team can adjust access per campaign.

Turning on public team signup

  1. Open your campaign and go to Campaign Settings → Team & Access.
  2. Find the Team Signup section.
  3. Turn on "Allow public team signup" — this allows anyone to create a team directly from your campaign URL.

Once enabled, a "Be a Team" button appears on your public campaign page. Visitors who click it fill out a short team information form (their name, contact details, and fundraising goal) and submit it.

Choosing an approval mode

With signup enabled, pick an Approval Mode:

  • Auto-approve — teams go live immediately, no action needed from you. Best for high-energy campaigns where you want zero friction.
  • Manual approval — you review and approve each team before it goes live. Best when you want to vet who fundraises under your campaign's name.

Reviewing pending teams (manual mode)

When manual approval is on, a Pending Approvals tab appears in your campaign's Teams section, with a badge showing how many requests are waiting. The list refreshes automatically.

Each pending request shows the team name, who it's led by (name and email), the proposed goal, and when it was submitted. For each one you can:

  • Approve — the team goes live: its public link is generated, the team leader receives a welcome email, and they're granted portal access to follow their team's progress.
  • Reject — the request is removed.
Tip: Pending teams are invisible to the public and are skipped by the Create Links tool — nothing about a request is published until you approve it.

What approved team leaders can do

An approved team leader gets:

  • A public team page with its own link to share with friends and family
  • A spot on your campaign's team leaderboard
  • Portal access — they can sign in to Pledgix and follow their team's donations and progress with a read-only view

They cannot edit your campaign, see other teams' private data, or change settings — their view is scoped to their own team.

Frequently asked

Can people join an existing team through the public page? Public signup creates new teams with the person who signs up as the leader. To add additional leaders to an existing team, edit the team and add their email addresses — each new leader gets their own portal invitation.

Can I turn signup off mid-campaign? Yes. Turning off Allow public team signup removes the "Be a Team" button. Existing teams are unaffected.

What happens if I switch from manual to auto-approve? New signups from that point go live instantly. Requests already sitting in Pending Approvals still need your decision.
