Merit and dedication lines on tiers

Many gifts carry meaning beyond the amount — a merit, an honor, a memory. Pledgix supports this in two complementary ways: merit and dedication lines that you write on a tier, and a dedication message that the donor writes with their gift. This article explains both, and how they work together.
Merit and dedication lines: what you write
When creating or editing a tier in the Zechusim & Tiers tab of your Design & Media hub (donation tiers are available from Pledgix One and up), two optional fields let you attach honors to the giving level:
- Merit Title — the honor associated with this level, e.g., Parnas HaYom ("Patron of the Day").
- Dedication Title — a dedication framing for the level, e.g., L'iluy Nishmas....
These lines appear on the tier's tile on your campaign page. They tell donors what giving at this level means — that this amount carries a recognized honor, or that it's traditionally given in someone's memory or merit.
Any tier can carry these lines. There's no special "dedication tier" type — a merit or dedication line is simply text you add to whichever levels deserve it, alongside the tier's title, amount, and design. (See Donation tiers: creating giving levels.)
The donor's dedication: what they write
The lines on the tile are display text — they describe the honor, but they don't ask the donor anything. The donor's own dedication happens in the donation form itself.
Every donation form includes an optional field labeled In Honor / Memory Of, where the donor can type a personal dedication — "In memory of Sarah bas Avraham," "In honor of our parents' anniversary," anything they wish. This works the same whether the donor selected a tier or typed their own amount.
There's one free-text dedication field, not separate "honor" and "memory" boxes — donors phrase it however feels right to them.
Where dedications go
The donor's dedication message is saved on their donation record. You'll see it:
- On the donation's details wherever you review donations in your campaign
- In your donation exports, alongside the donor's other details
- In the live donation feed and event displays, where dedication messages appear with the gift
There's no separate dedications screen to check — dedications travel with the donations they belong to. To collect them (for example, to read names at an event or prepare an honor roll), export your donations and use the dedication column.
Tip: If a tier represents a specific honor — sponsoring a particular day, dedicating a particular item — say so in the tier's Description and ask donors to name their honoree in the In Honor / Memory Of field. A short prompt like "Please tell us who this day is dedicated for" turns a generic gift into a record you can act on.
Tip: Review dedications before your campaign wrap-up. A thank-you note that acknowledges the donor's dedication ("...in memory of your grandmother") lands far more personally than one that only acknowledges the amount.
Good to know
- Merit and dedication lines are per-tier — different levels can carry different honors.
- The In Honor / Memory Of field is always optional for donors; leaving it blank doesn't affect the gift.
- On multilingual campaigns, the donation form's dedication field label is translated automatically; the merit and dedication lines you write display as you wrote them.
