Limited tiers: quantities, \"X left\" badges, and Sold Out

Some honors are one of a kind. A day of learning has one sponsor; a dedication wall has twelve plaques. Limited tiers let you put a real number on a giving level — and let scarcity do some of your fundraising for you.

Setting a quantity

When creating or editing a tier in the Zechusim & Tiers tab of your Design & Media hub (donation tiers are available from Pledgix One and up), use the Quantity Available field:

  • Leave it blank — the tier is unlimited, and any number of donors can choose it.
  • Enter a number — only that many units of the tier are available. Once they're gone, the tier closes automatically.

You can add or change a quantity at any time, even after donations have started. (See Donation tiers: creating giving levels for the rest of the tier editor.)

What donors see

Limited tiers show their scarcity right on the tile:

  • A badge shows how many spots remain — for example, "7 left" — and counts down as donations come in.
  • When 10 or fewer remain, the badge lights up in the tier's accent color, giving the countdown extra urgency.
  • When the last spot is taken, the tile dims and shows a "Sold Out" overlay. Donors can still see the tier existed — social proof that others gave at this level — but it can no longer be selected.

These labels appear in the donor's language automatically on multilingual campaigns.

How spots are counted — fairly

Two donors sometimes want the last spot at the same moment. Pledgix handles this for you:

  • Nothing is held while a donor is browsing or filling out the form — starting checkout doesn't reserve anything.
  • Spots are claimed in a single atomic step at the moment payment goes through, so two people can never both pay for the same final spot.
  • Because abandoned or failed checkouts never held a spot in the first place, spots can't get stuck on someone who walked away — only confirmed donations hold inventory.
  • Quantities count units, and a donor can claim more than one in a single gift — the checkout verifies the total matches the tier amount times the quantity chosen.

You never need to reconcile counts by hand — what the badge shows is what's actually available.

Reopening a sold-out tier

Sold out faster than expected? You have options:

  • Raise the quantity — edit the tier and increase Quantity Available. The tile reopens with the new count of remaining spots.
  • Add a sibling tier — create a new tier at the same amount (e.g., "Day of Learning — Second Cohort") to preserve the "sold out" achievement on the original while keeping the giving level open.
Tip: Scarcity works best when it's genuine and visible. A tier of 500 reads as unlimited; a tier of 10, 18, or 26 creates real urgency. Match the quantity to the honor — one sponsor per day of your campaign, one plaque per seat, one name per Torah portion.
Tip: Watch your limited tiers during live events. When the room hears "only 3 sponsorships left," those spots tend to vanish — and announcing the final "Sold Out" is a celebration moment of its own.

Good to know

  • Unlimited and limited tiers mix freely in the same grid.
  • Reducing a quantity below the number already claimed doesn't undo past donations — the tier simply shows as sold out.
  • Sold-out tiles stay on your page as a record of success; delete the tier only if you want it gone entirely.
