Your fundraising goal is the number your whole campaign rallies around. This article explains how the goal and its currency work, how to set a stretch target, and what happens when donors give in a different currency.
Setting your goal
You set your Fundraising Goal when you create the campaign. To change it later, open your campaign, go to Campaign Settings → Fundraising, and edit the Financial Goals section. You can update your goal at any time — even after launch.
You can also choose whether to display a goal at all. When the goal display is turned off, your public page highlights the total raised instead of a progress bar toward a target.
Your goal currency is your base currency
When you pick a currency for your goal — USD, EUR, GBP, ILS, CAD, or RUB — that currency becomes your campaign's base currency. Everything is measured in it:
- The public progress bar and total raised
- Team goals and team totals
- Analytics, leaderboards, and reports
- Matching pool capacities
Donations made in other currencies are automatically converted into your base currency, so all your numbers stay consistent.
Choose your base currency carefully. It should be the currency your organization primarily operates in. While you can technically change it later, all your totals are expressed in it, so switching mid-campaign is confusing for you and your donors.
Adding a bonus goal
Want to keep momentum after you hit your target? Add a bonus goal (stretch goal) in the Financial Goals section of the Fundraising tab. The bonus goal is available from Pledgix One and up — it's not included on Pledgix Go.
Once your campaign reaches its primary goal, the progress display switches to the bonus goal. Want a celebratory moment too? Your campaign's Success Celebration (also a Pledgix One-and-up feature) can be set to fire when the bonus goal is reached. It's a proven way to keep donations flowing after you cross 100%.
How donors give in their own currency
Your donors aren't limited to your base currency:
- At checkout, the donation form shows a currency picker. Donors can choose from the currencies your campaign accepts (by default: USD, GBP, EUR, ILS, CAD, and RUB).
- When a donor picks a different currency, Pledgix fetches a live exchange rate and shows them, right on the form, what their gift equals in your campaign's base currency.
- The donor is charged in the currency they chose. Your campaign totals record the converted base-currency value, so your progress bar always adds up.
You can control which currencies your campaign accepts in Campaign Settings → Fundraising, in the Currency card.
Frequently asked
Why doesn't my progress bar match the sum of the original donation amounts? Because donations in foreign currencies are converted into your base currency at the exchange rate in effect at the time of each gift. Your progress bar reflects the converted values.
Do matched donations count toward the goal? Yes. If your campaign runs a matching round, matched funds are added to the displayed total, so the progress bar reflects the full impact of every gift. (See Donation matching rounds for details.)
Can I show the goal in multiple currencies? The goal itself is always displayed in your base currency. Donors converting at checkout see their own currency alongside the base-currency equivalent.
