Getting a dedicated phone number for your campaign

Why a dedicated number

Every campaign can take phone donations. On the free shared line, donors call the global Pledgix number and enter your 6-digit campaign PIN. With a dedicated number, your campaign gets its own local line — donors just call, land straight in your campaign's phone menu, and donate. No PIN, fewer drop-offs.

Pledgix Go campaigns must purchase a dedicated number to use phone donations — the shared line isn't available on the Go plan.

What it costs

$30 per 30 days, charged to the campaign owner's billing card. The card is charged before the number is provisioned; if provisioning ever fails, the payment is refunded in full.

Buying a number

Open Telephone System in your campaign dashboard and choose Dedicated number in the setup wizard:

  1. Number type — pick the country. United States numbers are fully self-serve: enter a 3-digit area code and click See available numbers. (Other countries appear in the picker — if you need a non-US number, contact the Pledgix team to complete the setup.)
  2. Pick your number — browse live numbers available right now in your area code, with their city and region. No luck? Try a nearby area code — you haven't been charged anything.
  3. Payment — review the summary (Dedicated local number · first 30 days · Due today $30.00) and pay with the owner's card on file, or add a card. Card details go directly to the payment gateway; Pledgix never sees the number.

On success you'll see your new number and its paid-through date. If a payment gateway isn't assigned to the campaign yet, the number is live but callers can't donate until you assign one in Campaign Settings → Payment Gateways.

Renewal — the default is to expire

A new number is paid for one 30-day period and then expires unless you act. You have two options, both on the number card in Telephone System:

  • Auto-renew — flip the switch on and the number renews at $30/month until you turn it off.
  • Extend — click +30 days — $30 for a one-time extension, charged immediately. Extending early never wastes days: the 30 days are added to the end of your current paid period.

Expiry warnings and what happens at the end

If auto-renew is off, the campaign owner gets warning emails 7 days and 3 days before the period ends, and an amber banner appears in the dashboard: "This number expires on [date] and will be released back to the carrier."

When the paid period lapses, the number is released back to the carrier and the campaign falls back to the shared line and PIN. On a Go campaign — which has no shared line — phone donations stop until a new number is purchased. Released numbers go back into the carrier's public pool, so there's no guarantee of getting the same number again.

Tip: Printing your number on posters, mailers, or invitations? Turn auto-renew on the day you buy it. A released number can end up with a stranger, and reprinting is far more expensive than $30.
