The donations feed and donor privacy

A live feed of generosity

The Recent donations feed on your public page lists your campaign's donations for everyone to see — and it's live. New donations appear at the top of the feed in real time, and while your campaign is in its live (or extended) phase, a brief celebration toast pops up on the page as each one lands. There's nothing to refresh; visitors watching your page during a big push see the momentum as it happens. (Before launch, the feed keeps amounts under wraps along with the rest of your totals — see Early giving.)

Each entry can show:

  • The donor's name — or "Anonymous" if they chose privacy
  • The amount donated
  • A dedication or message the donor wrote ("In honor of...", "Go team!")
  • The team the donation supports, when your campaign uses teams

Team totals also include any matched or sponsor contributions, so leaderboards reflect the full impact.

Anonymous donors

Donors decide their own visibility. When someone checks the anonymous option during checkout:

  • Their name is hidden in the public feed and in the live toasts.
  • Their donation still counts fully toward your totals, progress meter, and team leaderboards.
  • You still see who they are. Anonymity is public-facing only — your campaign's donation records in the portal include their full details for receipts and thank-yous.
Tip: Anonymous donors often appreciate a personal thank-you precisely because they didn't ask for public credit. Their contact details are in your Donations CRM.

On political campaigns, the feed behaves a little differently to match campaign-finance norms: donation amounts are not displayed publicly, and entries show names only.

Sorting and searching

Visitors (and you) can explore the feed beyond the latest entries:

  • Newest / Oldest — sort by date in either direction; Newest is the default view, updating live.
  • Highest / Lowest — re-sorts by amount across all donations to the campaign, not just the ones loaded on screen. The true top gift is always first in the Highest view.
  • Search — type a name to find a specific donor's entry among all donations.

The feed loads a page at a time; a Load more button reveals older entries.

What the feed means for your campaign

A visible, active feed is one of your strongest conversion tools — social proof in its purest form. A few ways to put it to work:

  1. Seed the feed before you promote. A page with a handful of donations converts far better than an empty one — line up a few early gifts before your big send.
  2. Encourage dedications. Messages like "In memory of..." give later visitors emotional hooks and often prompt reciprocal dedications.
  3. Use the Highest view in your pitch. Pointing major prospects to the top of the leaderboard sets the anchor for what a "meaningful" gift looks like.

If the feed section isn't showing

The donations feed is one of the standard sections of your page, but on some pages (for example, certain Foundation/organization pages) individual sections can be turned off as part of your page's configuration. If your feed is missing and you'd like it on — or vice versa — reach out via Help & Support and we'll adjust it with you.
