Building teams and appointing captains

Teams turn your campaign into a movement. Each team gets its own public fundraising page, its own goal, and its own link to share — and every team's results roll up into your campaign total. This article covers creating teams, appointing captains, and organizing teams into groups.

What a team is

A team is the fundraising unit of your campaign. Each team has:

  • A team leader (or several) — the person whose name the team carries and who shares its link
  • A fundraising goal of its own
  • A team code — a short identifier shown on the leaderboard (for example, "1234" or "COHEN")
  • Its own public page and link where supporters donate in the team's name

All team donations count toward both the team's goal and your overall campaign goal.

Teams are available on every plan, but some team features are tiered: captains and groups are included on Pledgix Pro and Political plans, and on Pledgix Go the Overview's team leaderboard and link-status panels — and public team signup — are not included. The Pledgix team can adjust feature access per campaign.

Creating a team

  1. Open your campaign and go to the Teams tab.
  2. Click Add Team.
  3. Fill in the details:
  • First Name and Last Name of the team leader (required)
  • Email addresses — add one or more (required)
  • Phone numbers — add one or more (required)
  • Fundraising Goal (required)
  • Team Code — up to 8 letters or numbers, shown on the leaderboard
  • Custom URL Slug (optional) — defaults to the team code if left blank
  • Address details (optional)
  1. Click Create Team.
Tip: After creating teams, click Create Links in the Teams toolbar to generate public URLs for any teams that don't have one yet. A banner will remind you when teams are missing links.

Team leaders automatically receive an invitation email with access to the Pledgix portal, where they can follow their team's progress with a read-only view of the campaign.

Appointing captains

Captains are people you assign to oversee one or more teams (a Pledgix Pro and Political feature). When adding or editing a team, use the Assign Captains section:

  1. Search the captain Directory by name, email, or phone.
  2. Check the captains you want — they appear under Selected for this team.
  3. Save the team.

Selected captains are added to your campaign automatically and receive their own portal invitation. Captains get a read-only view of the campaign — they can follow donations and analytics for the teams they oversee, but they can't edit teams or settings. In the Teams tab, you can filter the team list by captain to see each captain's portfolio at a glance.

Organizing teams into groups

Groups (also a Pledgix Pro and Political feature) let you bundle teams into divisions — for example, "Corporate Teams" or "Family Division" — each with its own combined goal and progress.

  1. In the Teams tab, open Groups & Captains.
  2. Create a group with a Group Name and an optional Group Goal.
  3. Use Assign this group to teams to check off which teams belong. A team can belong to more than one group.

Each group card shows how many teams it contains, the combined amount raised, and a group progress bar. Groups are for organizing and reporting — they don't have public pages of their own.

Editing and hiding teams

Click any team to open Edit Team. Alongside the standard fields, you'll find a Team Visibility toggle — when disabled, the team is hidden from your public campaign page (its data is kept).

Your All Teams table shows each team's goal, amount raised, progress, donor count, page views, and last donation — sortable and searchable, so you always know who's leading and who needs encouragement.
